Apostle Stephen Acheampong, the Effiduase Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, has identified disobedience to God, corruption, and injustice as key factors that lead to the downfall of a nation.
Speaking as a guest minister at Reapers Temple of the Assemblies of God Church in Koforidua on Sunday, Apostle Acheampong stated that a nation’s decline is often a consequence of its people turning away from God.
Apostle Acheampong stressed that godly leadership, obedience to God, and justice for all are essential for a nation to prosper. “When you see a nation falling, it means the people have disobeyed God. Good leadership, rooted in the fear of God, fosters unity and progress,” he stated.
The event marked the launch of the 2025 Bible Week Celebration, themed “The Bible and Unity for Nation Building”.
He commended Ghana for its peaceful elections and stressed the critical role of leadership in nation-building. “Good leaders must constantly seek the face of God and ensure that the foundation of the nation is built on the Word of God,” he advised.
The Bible Week Celebration is organized by the Bible Society of Ghana, a non-profit Christian organization dedicated to translating the Bible into local languages.
Since its establishment in 1967, the Society has completed nine full Bible translations, including Ga, Asante-Twi, Ewe, Mfantse, Dangme, Akuapem-Twi, Nzema, Esahie, and Dagbani.
Francis Kofi Oppong, Chairman of the Regional Oversight Committee of the Bible Society of Ghana, called on churches, organizations, and individuals to support the work of the Bible Society of Ghana in translating and distributing the Bible to make God’s Word accessible to all.
Mr. Stephen Awaga, Eastern Regional Manager of the Bible Society of Ghana, revealed that translating the Bible is a complex and expensive process.
He said ongoing translation projects aim to add Gurune, Dagaare, Effutu-Senya, and Okere, alongside a Braille version for the visually impaired.
