A disqualified Parliamentary aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Fanteakwa North Constituency Kaptin Moro Sakyiama Yakubu has declared his intention to go independent.
Kaptin Moro Sakyiama Yakubu was disqualified by the Eastern Regional Parliamentary vetting Committee of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) reasons best known to them.
Kaptin Moro was worried that the Party had failed woefully to officially inform him of the reasons for his unjustifiable disqualification having served the party for years.
“I am disappointed that my Party, believed to be the icon of democracy in Ghana has failed to officially inform me about the reasons for my disqualification”.
This came to light when he addressed the media in Begoro on Thursday, June 24, 2020, the disqualified aspirants hinted that he was disqualified purely on the tribal basis that some individuals insisted they will not allow any Akan to be MP in Fanteakwa North.
He said an excuse that he has no academic certificate is untrue showing various academic certificates he has earned.
Kaptin Moro declaration comes at the back of warning by the Eastern Regional Executive of the NPP that, the party will deal with any aspirant who goes Independent through both legal and physical means.
He has therefore promised to face the consequences as a result of his decision to contest as Independent Candidate by his party – the NPP to ensure victory ahead.
Moro Sakyiama Yakubu was the only contender who was challenging the incumbent Member of Parliament Kwabena Amankwa Asiamah but was disqualified.
The disqualification of the aspirant has since sparked agitation among supporters of the party in the Constituency.
Kaptin Moro was full of praise for the Party supporters who have declared their support for him to contest and urged them to support him to improve their well-being.
However, some supporters and Polling station executives of the NPP who have declared support for the Independent candidature promised to vote skirt and blouse.
