Turn out for 2015 district-level election was about 39 percent, according to the Electoral Commission.
The highest turn out recorded at the District Level Election was 59 percent in 1988 when the District Assembly Elections were conducted under unconstitutional rule, and in 1998 a 41.6 percent turnout was representing the highest figure since constitutional rule.
There has been a record of low voter turnouts, participation and interest in the national exercise over the period.
For instance, in 1998, 41.6 percent of the population turned out to vote.
It declined in 2002 to 33.1 percent voter turnout.
It, however, increased slightly to 39.28 percent in 2006 and reduced again to 37.25 percent in 2010.
