Denmark Ambassador to Ghana, Tom Nørring, paid a visit to the Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, Minister for Works, Housing, and Water Resources, to congratulate him on his appointment and discuss Denmark’s continued support for Ghana’s water sector.
Denmark has supported the Ghanian water sector for decades through DANIDA engagement.
Since 2019, the focus has shifted towards the Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC), which aims to strengthen water management through knowledge sharing, capacity building and sustainable solutions.
The Ambassador highlighted Denmark’s new Africa Strategy, particularly the DKK +1 Billion commitment to the African water sector, which among other aims to expand and improve water access in Northern Ghana and enhance water efficiency in Tema region. This development project is linked to the ongoing SSC and the feasibility study of the Aveyime Water investment project, which aims to address the water deficit in Tema and Greater Accra.
The Ambassador also reiterated Denmark’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s water sector through the DANIDA Fellowship Centre, offering capacity-building programs for technical experts and policymakers.
As Ghana and Denmark continue to work together towards sustainable water solutions, we look forward to deepening our engagement with the Ministry to improve access to clean and potable water for all.
