DKT, an innovative and adventurous social marketing organization, has organized a seminar for its customers on adverse effects of contraceptives as part of its corporate social responsibility.
The seminar was to provide people with high-quality education on contraceptives and to reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections in the country.
DKT in the past offered free counseling services at workshops, youth-friendly activities, and providing age-appropriate sex education.
Dr. Abdulai Adamu, the General Manager for Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, and Medical Detailing at DKT International Anglophone West Africa (AWA), said that the regional-based program was to educate clients on the adverse effects of contraceptives to improve their products on the market.
He called on the public to report side effects of medication to appropriate headquarters for further pharmaceutical improvement.
Speaking to the media after the training at Ascension Hall in Koforidua, Dr. Abdulai Adamu debunked perceptions of impotency after taking contraceptives.
Dr. Abdulai Adamu affirmed that DKT remains a leader in innovative marketing and education of condoms and lubricants with nonjudgmental sexual health information.
“When you take contraceptives, you can give birth when you need,’’ he added.
He indicated that the DKT is committed to improving health outcomes among Ghanaians.
Midwifery Officer at the Eastern Regional Hospital, Yaa Serwah Yeboah, explained that family planning allows people to attain their desired number of children and prevent unwanted pregnancies.
She averred that family planning is good for people to control births in a family, urging females to visit health centers providing family planning services for female condoms.
Serwah Yeboah cautioned the public to use condoms to help prevent the spread of HIV cases as the country approaches its festive season.
