National Democratic Congress’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama has said force leave for Daniel Domelovo, Auditor-General sets a dangerous precedent for the country.
He was disappointed over the change of his office keys in just 28 days in his 146 accumulated leave and said that is a clear indication of his dismissal.
Former President Mahama said this during a live Facebook interview with TV XYZ.
President Akufo-Addo has ordered Domelevo to proceed on leave which spans over 146 days, culminating in a huge backlash from civil society organizations.
Mr. Mahama said “If the president can ask the Auditor General to go on leave, it means he can ask the Chief Justice to go on leave, he can ask the Electoral Commissioner to go on leave, he can ask the CHRAJ Director to go on leave, but these are supposed to be independent institutions,” he said.
Mr. John Dramani Mahama sworn in Daniel Domelovo, as the new Auditor-General, whose appointment took effect from December 23, 2016, after General Elections.
Mr. Domelovo confirmed his acceptance of the appointment Wednesday, December 28, 2016.
This appointment was done in consultation with the Council of State by Article 70 of the 1992 Constitution.
