Management of the Presbyterian Hospital in Donkorkrom the District Capital of Afram Plains North has rolled out measures to enhance the capacity of the facility in handling cases of COVID-19 should it record any.
The Donkorkrom Hospital is the only hospital in the area known as a food basket of the country serving both Afram Plains North and South Districts.
Catchment areas of the facility are mostly farming communities on Island and Inland.
The Administrator of the Hospital Effah Augustine told the media, the hospital is always under pressure due to the high OPD attendance, and therefore, it needed to put in place additional measures to be able to manage COVID-19 cases.
He outlined that the Hospital has delegated some staff for training on COVID-19 management. It has also established an isolation center.
According to the Administrator of the Hospital, it recently received Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) from the regional Health Directorate which has boosted the morale of staff.
Furthermore, the Hospital has instituted strict preventive measures including hand washing and temperature checks for all clients who report at the facility.
He, however, appealed for support from corporate Ghana to provide more PPEs and other essentials medical items such as beds to help in the delivery of quality healthcare.
The Minister of Health Kwaku Agyemang Manu announced Wednesday, April 1, 2020, that, 34 new cases have been recorded which have increased the national figures from 161 as of Tuesday, March 31, 2020, to 195.
The Greater Accra Region has 174 of these cases, the Northern Region has 10, the Ashanti Region has nine, the Upper West Region has one and the Eastern Region also has one known case of the virus
Out of the total cases recorded, five have died, 49 discharged but being managed home, 138 responding to treatment at various hospitals.
