A member of Dr. Kwabena Duffuor’s campaign team General Buhari has called on delegates of the opposition National Democratic Congress NDC not to be intimidated for supporting Dr.Duffuor.
According to General Buhari, high ranking members of the party declaring support for John Dramani Mahama were once members of Friends of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings (FONKAR) who were against late Prof.Evans Atta Mills and Mahama .
He mentioned National Organizer,Joseph Yamin, MP for Buem Kofi Adams, Eastern regional Chairman Mark Oliver Kevor among others as members who played pivotal role in FONKAR but because the NDC is a democratic party, they were brought onboard and given appointments in government and the party.
He therefore assured delegates not to be intimidated by anyone in supporting what they believe in.
General Buhari said ,the NDC is one family ,that, after the Presidential Primaries whoever emerges winner will be supported by all to defeat the NPP in 2024.
He assured that Dr.Duffuor is a unifier and peace maker and will ensure there is Unity in the party after the election.
Speaking on credentials of Dr.Kwabena Duffuor, Buhari stated that, as an accomplished businessman, a former Finance minister who hold enviable record as Ghana’s best finance minister ,Dr.Duffuor is suitable candidate to become president in 2025 to fix the broken economy.
He said this at Kade Friday when addressing delegates of the NDC.
Dr.Duffuor is embarking on a 4-day campaign tour in the Eastern region ahead of the NDC’s Presidential Primaries in May 13,2023 which he is contesting together with former President John Mahama and former Mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly,Kojo Bonsu.
The former governor of the central bank of Ghana has been assuring delegates of the NDC a rebirth of the party to revert power to the grassroot.
He said the grassroot has been neglected contrary to foundation principles of the party.
The business mogul reiterated his commitment to make NDC business centered party that will own shares in major companies just as ANC party in South Africa to become financial viable so that the party is not hijacked by few people because they contribute financially to the running of the party.
Dr.Duffuor also said he will provide monthly salaries to the executives of the party to ensure that they become more dedicated to the work of the party.
He said the heroes fund will be restore,institute pension scheme for party, build regional and constituency offices for the party, provide vehicles and other resources to empower the grassroot.
Dr.Duffuor also indicated that women in the party must be empowered economically to help sustain the fortunes of the party.
