A former Eastern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress NDC, Bismark Tawiah Boateng, has called on the current leadership of the party not to neglect old executives in the 2024 election campaign since they are the backbone of the party.
He said it is time for the NDC party to win the 2024 general elections but cannot win the elections without unity and absolute inclusiveness, hence the need to reach out to its founding members, Cadres and all past executives who have been the strength of the party to come on board.
” We need unity because our motto is unity, stability and development, the unity is our greatest strength, so let us use the 30th anniversary to preach unity, let us reach out to all those who have lost in an election, those who have won an election, those who are already in the party and those who didn’t contest in any elections at all “
” Let us try our best to reach out to all those people, The party had 110 founding members nationally but now we have only 43, the Eastern region used to have 15 but now there are only 4 left, do we reach out to them? Those who have fought for the party from the beginning since 1992, do we look for them? We shouldn’t see only the executive members as part of the party” he said.
” During the time of Wudu Yaya and Issifu Ali we had a welfare committee where Ampem Dankwah was the national welfare officer and I was the regional welfare officer. It was helping the party to reach out to their founding members, so we need to introduce it this time around so that we can bring all our members on board to help the party win the 2024 elections” he added
However, the former Chairman advised all NDC members to brace themselves up in unity and take part in all activities of the party without discriminating against who the organizers of the program may be but put the party first.
The former Eastern regional chairman made the comment during a clean-up exercise around Koforidua zongo clinic, Mahd -Deen Islamic and Primary School where they distil chocked gutters in the zongo community to climax the 30th anniversary of the NDC party.
Kudjo Adokpo who is the NDC Eastern regional secretary expressed that the spirit of communal labour exhibited by the founder of the party, the late Jerry John Rawlings has diminished, hence the current NDC youth must rise up and begin demonstrating the Rawlings’ spirit of community service for the party in order to win power come 2024 general elections.
” Today if we are 30 years then it is important to rejuvenate and work through communal labour, if Ghana’ will work again and is John Mahama who is coming then we need to come together through communal labour and vote the Akuffu Addo-led government in 2024 “
” Today Ghana is indebted, people are starving, our children have all turned into prostitution by the roadside, thieves all over, we can’t buy fuel, people are dying, this is a communal labour for all Ghanaians that 2024 the NPP government will be voted out,” he said.
