The Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has advised the youth not to start their marital journey in debt.
According to him, most couples begin their married life with debt burdens due to the luxurious wedding ceremony they put on themselves, which goes a long way to hurt them after the ceremony.
“Marriage isn’t all about wedding. Love doesn’t pay bills. Love doesn’t buy provisions.
You don’t want to begin marriage with debt”, which he explains that some newlyweds start receiving calls and messages from vendors and some microcredit companies even while they are on their honeymoon.
He cited examples where food and drink vendors and chair suppliers call couples immediately after the wedding celebration due to unfinished business, which describes a clear meaning of financial unreadiness.
Duncan- Williams also used his platform to advise ladies to stop putting unnecessary pressure on men into organizing luxurious wedding just to please their egos.
Archbishop then proposed a simple church marriage blessing without bridesmaids, grooms men, or receptions, encouraging couples to focus on their lives rather than spending on ceremonies.
