The MP for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has cautioned his colleagues members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from standing up for Kwabena Adu Boahene, who is suspected of embezzling GH₵49 million in public funds.
Assafuah warned party members not to defend Adu Boahene in the event that the accusations are validated during his appearance on JoyNews’ AM Show on Tuesday.
“If this is true, I am warning party persons, NPP persons, in the event that this is proven, please don’t go and defend it because we are building a nation,” he stated.
On Monday, March 24, Dr. Dominic Ayine, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, announced the accusations.
Dr. Ayine claims that Adu Boahene, who was the National Signals Bureau’s Director General from 2017 to 2025, embezzled millions of dollars intended for a cyber defense project and used them to invest in Accra and foreign real estate.
He is also accused of using the real estate industry to launder more than $2 million.
Concern has been raised by the claims, and many people are demanding that the situation be thoroughly investigated.
