Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, the founder of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and chairman of Group Nduom, has expressed his deep sorrow at the demise of his companies in Ghana, especially his now-defunct GN Bank.
The politician has already lamented the failure of his business endeavors in the nation.
Dr. Nduom in a Facebook Live discussion on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, said the present administration purposefully destroyed his companies because he is a political rival.
He compared his situation to the United States, saying, “Elon Musk disagrees with the current President Joe Biden. He [Elon Musk] is even campaigning for the opponent of the current vice president. But is he not working? Is he not wealthy? Yes, he is even benefiting from the space programmes, grants, and budget that are being implemented by the Biden administration. Nobody is saying, ‘Go and kill him or his businesses because he supports another political party.’”
“Why do we do this to ourselves here in Ghana? Because he disagrees with me, because he is a member of the Progressive People’s Party, because he used to be a member of the CPP, and we are this and we are that, his businesses must be destroyed? He shouldn’t be allowed to eat, and his employees should go home. It must not be.”
Being an opponent “doesn’t mean you should shut down my businesses, as some people have tried to do,” the disgruntled businessman continued.
When the Consolidated Bank of Ghana was established in 2017 as a result of the banking industry’s restructuring by the Nana Addo administration, Dr. Nduom’s GN Bank was impacted.
