The Mponua Royal Family in Koforidua- Effiduase, to which the late Defence Minister Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah belonged, has formally informed the Effiduase and New Juaben Traditional Councils of the death of their illustrious son.
The Chief of Effiduase, Okowia Dwumo Baabu, was first to receive the traditional announcement.
He then dispatched a delegation to accompany the bereaved family to officially notify the Omanhene of New Juaben, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng II.
Following the announcement, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng II declared this Sunday as a Dark Akwasidae (Akwasidae Tum Tum) in honour of Dr. Omane Boamah.
The Effiduase Traditional Council and the bereaved family has also set aside Saturday, August 16, for a solemn vigil night.
Dr. Omane Boamah, the only child of his mother, was born and raised in Koforidua -Effiduase .
He was among eight high-profile personalities who tragically lost their lives in last week’s military helicopter crash.
The disaster claimed the lives of Dr. Omane Boamah, Environment, Science and Technology Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, NDC Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, NADMO Deputy Director-General Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
