A 23-year-old driver, Drah Isaac Kwabena has been arrested and arraigned before the Asamankese Circuit Court for driving with an expired Insurance certificate contrary to section 1(2) of the Motor Vehicle Act 42 0f 1958(Third Party Insurance).
Drah Isaac Kwabena was also charged for parking at an unauthorized place and his age was challenged but the accused pleaded not guilty and was remanded to re-appear on 17th May 2021.
The prosecution, Chief Inspector M. D. Tetteh told the court presided over by His Honour Abubakari Abass Adams that the complainant, in this case, are Police officers stationed at the Asamankese Divisional Command of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department whilst the accused person is also a driver in Asamankese.
The prosecution statement said on 3rd May 2021 at about 12:20pm, the Police MTTD were on their routine patrol on the road and saw the accused with a Hyundai H/100 with registration number GG-2635-19 Parked at an unauthorized place in Asamankese Central Business center with passengers on board.
The Police approached the accused and asked for his documents on his Vehicle and himself and realized that the accused was underage to drive such a vehicle and was using an expired Insurance certificate.
He was then arrested and arraigned before court for prosecution.
