A 48-year-old driver, Ernest Nyarko has been convicted into three months imprisonment for allowing an unlicensed man to drive his Kia Rhino truck with Registration number GG 3796-21 at Adeiso Zongo.
The accused, Ernest Nyarko was fined ¢600.00 or in default, serve one month, and sentenced to three months imprisonment but he could not pay the fine so he will spend three months imprisonment.
Prosecuting, Sergeant Livingston Tettey said Complainants, in this case, are Police Officers stationed at Adeiso District MTTD whilst Accused Ernest Nyarko is a driver.
On 05/06/2022 at about 1:40pm, the Accused permitted one Kwaku to drive his Kia Rhino truck with registration number GG 3796-21 at Adeiso Township without a driver’s license.
That the suspect driver Kwaku knocked down a female pedestrian and her son killing them instantly. The said suspect driver Kwaku now at large abandoned the vehicle and took it to his heels. All effort made to trace him has proven futile.
During the investigation, it was revealed that it was the accused that permitted the suspect to drive the said vehicle.
The accused came to the Police station and was told to produce the suspect driver he permitted but he has failed to assist the police.
The accused was arrested and charged with the offense as contained in the charge sheet before this honorable court.
