A 45 year old Professional Driver, Edward Mensah has been fined Gh₵1,920 for causing harm to a Pedestrian, Celestine Obikyenbi, 52 years by the Asamankese Circuit Court presided over by His Honour Abubakari Abass Adams, in default, he will be sentenced to 12 months imprisonment.
The accused, Edwaard Mensah, resident of Asamankese was also asked to pay Gh₵3,000.00 to the victim.
Chief Inspector M.D.Tetteh, the prosecuting officer told the court that on 09-01-2021, the accused was in charge of a Hyundai Taxi with registration number GR 6170-2021 with passengers on board from Asamankese to Suhum and on reaching a place called Sabaki ran over the complainant leg when the accused was parking to drop a passenger.
The prosecutor said the complainant was injured in her left leg and was sent to Asamankese Government Hospital.
Prosecution said the accused Vehicle was examined and tested in Akyem DVLA to find out fault in it but it was confirmed that the Vehicle is in good condition before running over the complainant`s leg.
The case was reported to the Police and the accused was sent to court for prosection.
