There is anxiety at the Begoro Government Hospital in the Fanteakwa North District of the Eastern Region following the quarantine of 58 exposed Staff of the hospital who had contact with a patient tested positive for coronavirus on April 11, 2020.
On April 5, 2020, a 65-year-old Mango Seller was admitted at the male ward of the Hospital on the reported case of query tuberculosis but on the next day, he developed dyspnea and fever of about 40 degree Celsius which management became suspicious hence took his sample to Noguchi which tested positive on April 11, 2020.
The male ward has since been closed for fumigation while patients who were on admission with him have all been quarantined for observation and testing.
Coronavirus cases in the Eastern Region have increased to 32.
This makes the region third highest after Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions which have recorded 452 and 49 cases respectively.
The national tally stands at 566 with 8 deaths.
President Nana Akufo-Addo in his 5th address to the nation on the coronavirus pandemic in Ghana announced that all health workers will be exempted from tax payment on their monthly emoluments for the next three months starting from April to June.
He also announced additional package health professionals at the frontline of the virus fight; a 50 percent increment of basic salary from March to June 2020.
Already the Ministry of Health has secured insurance coverage for the frontline health workers.
