Two positive cases of Coronavirus have been recorded in Akuapem North Municipality of the Eastern Region.
All two cases were imported.
The patients are a 59-year-old woman who returned to the country on 20th March 2020 and resides in Amanokrom and a 45-Year-Old lady who returned to the country on 19th March 2020 and resides in Akropong.
Contact tracing of the two cases, isolation and testing are underway.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Akuapem North Dennis Miracle Aboagye confirmed to mybrytfmonline.com.
He stated that “I want to reiterate that, the Joint directive signed on the 30th March 2020 is still in force and will be extended for another two weeks. We are all advised to adhere strictly to these directives to curb further spread of the virus within our municipality. As we fight the COVID-19 in our Municipality, we must take our precautionary measures very seriously”.
He added “We encourage us all to stay home if we have nothing urgent to do outside. Wash your hands frequently. Observe social distance protocols and wear your mask if you have to go out”.
Ghana has recorded a total of 1042 confirmed cases of coronavirus after testing a total of 68,591 samples as of April 19, 2020. Out of the confirmed cases, the Eastern region has recorded 51 Cases with one case recorded in Fanteakwa North whereas the rest are from among railway construction workers in Lower Manya Krobo municipality.
