Twenty-One (21) out of twenty-five(25) NPP Members of Parliament in the Eastern Region have allegedly declared support for Jeffery Konadu Addo to be elected Eastern Regional Chairman.
According to the Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Opoku Ansah, the MPs believe in the competence of Jeff Konadu Addo as Chairman.
He said Jeff has demonstrated over the years as Regional Secretary, his commitment to the success of the party and tight relationship with the grassroots.
Speaking on the “Ebesi Sen” political show hosted by Evans Otafregya Thursday evening, the MP said, Jeff, can lead the NPP to break the eight (8) hence the massive support from the MPs.
David’s Opoku Ansah described as a weak argument that Jeff Konadu is from Kwahu therefore his election as Regional Chairman will mean more Kwahus will be serving in government with the mention of IGP George Akufo Dampare, Eastern Regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong, and Council of state member Paa Kofi Ansong.
He questioned “when did the IGP become a Kwahu”
According to him, in Ashanti Region, the incumbent chairman Bernard Antwi Bosiako alias Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei, and the Education Minister Osei Adutwum are all from the Bosomtwi area but nobody is advancing the same argument against Chairman Wontumi.
The Mpraeso MP has therefore called on delegates to ignore such feeble argument against Jeff Konadu and vote massively for him coming Saturday.
Kwadwo Agyemang Boateng, immediate past New Juaben North Constituency Chairman of the NPP is rather contesting the incumbent Regional Secretary Jeffrey Konadu for the Regional Chairmanship position.
The contest has sharply divided the party as the presidency and some bigwigs of the party are unfairly meddling in the contest and manipulating the process in favor of Mr. Boateng, however, the campaign of Jeff Konadu is receiving a massive endorsement from members of Parliament and many delegates who believe the decision of Mr.Boateng to contest is an afterthought and hidden agenda having been elected Constituency chairman three weeks ago.
