Three(3) illegal miners have lost their lives in a tragic pit collapse at the Kobriso Romanmu in the Denkyembuor district of the Eastern Region.
The victims, identified as Kwasi Darkwa (24), Kofi Asante (30), and Yaw Ibrahim (39), were discovered on February 29.While one body was retrieved the same day, the remaining two were recovered on March 1, 2024.
The bodies have been transported to St. Dominic Hospital in Akwatia for preservation and autopsy.
Investigations have been launched by the police to determine the cause of the incident.
Additionally, two elders of the community, Abusuapanyin Danso and Abusuapanyin Owusu, have been identified as the owners of the illegal mining pit who contracted the victims.
