Residents of Trom, Bonya, and its surrounding communities in New Juaben South Municipality in the Eastern Region have commended the government for fixing their deplorable roads.
The Trom, Bonya to Acheampong roads are receiving a major facelift and being tarred for the first time.
The contractor has completed the first coat of the bitumen expected to add the second coat in the coming weeks.
Residents in the area have protested the deplorable state of roads in the area for many years.
The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi and the Municipal Chief Executive Isaac Appaw Gyasi took the media round to inspect the progress of work done so far on the roads on Sunday.
The MP hinted that beginning Tuesday; about 35 km of town roads in Koforidua are going to be asphalted to give the roads a facelift to merit the regional capital status.
“People thought we were grading the roads to deceive them to vote for us but you can see it yourself. The roads have been tarred. This will open the local economy and boost agriculture because many people here are farmers. We will continue the road to Acheampong, Korle Abansoro, and Agarvenya. So President Nana Akufo Addo has done extremely well in Koforidua he deserves commendation”.
The MP continued “As part of the ongoing Koforidua major road infrastructure, beginning Tuesday we are going asphalt all major roads in Koforidua township. Our target is to make Koforidua beautiful and meet metropolitan status”
On his part, the MCE Ike Appaw Gyasi said the year of the road is on course in Koforidua assuring that all major roads in Koforidua will be rehabilitated and tarred.
