Four(4) constituencies in Eastern Region will not take part in the Parliamentary Primaries of the Opposition National Democratic Congress,NDC due to unresolved disputes.
The affected constituencies include; Akwatia, Ayensuano, Afram Plains South and Lower West Akim.
The decision was announced by the NDC Deputy General Secretary, Barbra Serwaa Asamoah (Finance & Admin) in a statement on Thursday, April 27, 2023.
The statement also mentioned that primaries will also not take place in Adansi Asokwa, Mampong, Ayawaso West Wuogon, and Odododiodoo. The rest are Amenfi East, Gomoa Central, Akontombra, Tano North, Manhyia South, Assin North, and Efutu.
The party has also suspended the presidential primaries in the Manhyia South Constituency.
The NDC Functional Executive Committee(FEC) arrived at the decision “in order to have a smooth exercise for the Presidential and Parliamentary Primaries of the Party across the length and breadth of the country,” excerpts of the statement read.“
The statement said ,FEC is working diligently to ensure that issues bedeviling the above constituencies are dealt with and announce a new date for the Primaries in due course,” the statement added.
