A 43-year old man from Asante Juaben in the Ashanti region has been crowned as the Best Farmer for the year 20222 at the 38th edition of the National Farmers Day Awards.
Nana Yaw Sarpong Serebour received a cash prize of one million cedis (Ghc1,000,000.00) and other benefits that comes with it.
As a mechanical engineer by profession, Nana Sarpong Serebour of Serebour Farms was full of joy for emerging as the over all best farmer in the country.
He was grateful for the honour done him and also commended Agric Extension officers who have been assistance to his success as he always receive guidelines on how to have a good yield using the right farming procedures.
He however, called on Government to add value to farm produce so as to make them attractive and unique.
The 2nd Runner up went to Professor Akwasi Asabre Ameyaw from Techiman in the Bono East region while Mr. Agyei Fosu from Kintampo also emerged the 1st Runner up.
Meanwhile, Mr. Alex Cudjoe of Elmina was adjudged the national Best Fisherman with Madam Yaa Adjeley also taking the Best Female farmer.
Opanin Abraham Adusei of Saviour Church of Ghana from the Eastern Region was also awarded as the best National Crop Farmer.
