The Vetting Committee in the Eastern Region of New Patriotic Party (NPP) has cleared 83 Aspiring Parliamentary Candidates to contest for the 27th January Election in 24 Constituencies.
As of the close of nominations on December 25, 2023, a total of ninety-two (92) aspiring candidates have expressed their intention to compete for parliamentary seats in the Eastern Region.
Out of these, 85 candidates officially filed their nominations, poised to challenge
incumbents in 22 constituencies.
In the Abetifi and Upper West Akim Constituency, Hon. Bryan Acheampong and Frederick Obeng Adom are going
unopposed.
Among the 83 candidates, 9 are female aspirants, but unfortunately, One woman was disqualified.
In an interview with Regional Secretary, Kofi Osei Adjei said six people are Contesting in Okere Constituency,the highest number of Candidates in the Region and the rest have between two to five.
According to him, Four Incumbents MPs did not seek for Re-election due to their personal issues.
They are Kwasi Amoako-Attah, Atiwa West, Daniel Kwaku Botwe, Okere, Samuel Atta Akyea, Akim Abuakwa South and Kwasi Boateng Adjei, New Juaben North Constituency.
Mr. Osei Adjei called on Aspirants to conduct clean Campaign and urged Constituency Executives to remain neutral in the election.
