Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga, Municipal Chief Executive for Abuakwa North in the Eastern Region of Ghana who doubles as the Chairman of the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) and the Traditional Heads have declared the Municipality, a no go zone for nomadic herdsmen and its related activities.
He posited that, the destruction to farms by the herdsmen and breeding of hoodlums will not be entertained in the Municipality.
Honourable Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga further directs all who seek to rare cattle in the Municipality to seek proper permit from the Assembly in consultation with the traditional leaders, failure to abide by this directive will result in forceful ejection if spotted.
The Municipal Chief Executive made the insertion, when together with a team of policemen from Tafo District Police Command, headed by Supt. Isaac Ampofo, raided the hideout of suspected tugs allegedly hired by one, Mohammed, a ranch owner, upon reports by the residents of Mpaem #2 claiming they are being terrorised by the tugs’ presence.
The police subsequently arrested one person assisting investigations.
Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly has been battling with nomadic herdsmen in the enclave for some years now.
The Municipal Security Council launched Operation flush out cattle to curb the menace and has since not relented the efforts.
