Honourable Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Abuakwa North, has disclosed that, the Assembly has made provisions for over 80 sets of streetlight bulbs to be distributed to traditional authorities and some Assembly members who are seeking for re-election in the Municipality ahead of this year’s yuletide.
In an exclusive interview with Nana Kwasi Asare, the Honourable MCE indicated that, the gesture is to improve visibility in the Municipality to prevent crime during the Christmas and New Year Festivals.
He explained the distributions of the streetlight bulbs to the Traditional Heads as follows, Kukuratumi fifteen (15), Ati five (5), New Tafo ten (10), Old Tafo five (5), Anyinasin six (6), Osiem five (5), Ettokrom three (3), Bosodumase, Tontro, Nobi, Obodaase, Sokode Guaso, Bediasi, Anweabeng and Abremponsu will receive two (2) each.
He added that, all the ten (10) sitting members of the Assembly who are seeking for re-election will be giving four (4) each.
Honourable Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga posited that, 85% of the Municipality have streetlights but this gesture is to augment the existing ones.
The Honourable MCE used the occasion to admonish all to participate in the District Level Elections on the 19th December, 2023 as part of their civic responsibility to elect their Assembly members for their respective Electoral Areas for community development.
He further lauded all who have devoted themselves to contest in the elections and added that, they should run issues based campaigns devoid of insults for a healthy competition which will lead to socio-economic development of the country.
