Some angry members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Abuakwa North Constituency in Eastern region have issued stern warning to the Constituency Communications Officer Abdul Wahab for attacking Ambassador Victor Smith ,the “political godfather” of the constituency
The angry members have accused Wahab Amadu deliberate attacks on personality of Ambassador victor Smith trying to blame him for the confusion that has rocked the internal election of the party in the Constituency.
They describe the attacks as “irresponsible, looks soo flimsy, misconduct, insubordination and a total disrespect for elders”
A statement issued by the angry members calling themselves concerned members of the NDC in Abuakwa North was signed by Munta Iddriss ,a former deputy constituency youth organizer, Abdul Karim,Jamela Adams,and Mustapha Iddriss
They insist that, Ambassador Victor Smith is no mean a person to be defamed for the sake of political expediency.
“Ambassador Victor Smith has been a Senior Council of Elder in the constituency and someone cannot use his position to the media to degenerate or undermine his integrity, he has been a Stalwart and served on numerous positions in his political life for the Great Ndc party, said by the aggrieved members.
He has served the following offices and should not be treated anyhow but the needed respect must be given to him accordingly.He served as the Director of Public Affairs and a special aide to former President Rawlings, he served as Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom from 2014 and 2017, he served as Ghana’s Ambassador to Czech Republic , being a Ghanaian diplomat, served as former Eastern Regional Minister , Parliamentary Candidate in abuakwa- north, Regional and Constituency Council of elder, and moreover adopting of some constituencies within the region”.
They stated that, the Constituency Communications Officer ,Wahab Amandu ,at a recently held press conference today attacked Victor Smith without any justification.
“The voice heard is irresponsible behavior, which is an affront to the party’s tenets and values and in a serious contradiction to Article 48 ( 8) sub- section “C”, he has grossly fond of misconduct, and insubordination”.
The group called on Leadership of the party to sanction him to serve as deterent.
“As a matter of Urgency, we are Calling on the Constituency, and Regional Disciplinary Committee to call him to order with the appropriate sanctions and apologize to Amb. Victor Smith or face our wrath in the coming days.The Current Reconciliation Spirit being Championed in the Constituency is under the leadership of Ambassador Victor Smith, it is our call for all rank and file of the party to join in hands and move the party forward for Victory 2024”.
Additionally, they are demanding unconditional apology from Wahab Amadu to Ambassador Victor Smith .
“As an aggrieved members of the party, repeatedly we are seriously demanding an apology from Wahab Abdul and we must emphatically stated that he should be focused performing his duties as constituency communications officer as the Communications bureau is distorted across branches, he should rather come out and attack our opponents in power over the numerous undevelopmental challenges we are facing most especially our road networks”.
Abuakwa North NDC party is in turmoil following injunction that struck the parliamentary primaries on disagreement over venue.
The election has since not been held .
Edgar Kwaku Asamoah Boateng,an aspirant who initiated the legal action has since been suspended from the party by the National Executives.
