The defunct Post Office facility in Akuapem Adawso, a community in the Eastern Region to be converted into a fire service station in coming days.
This was announced by the Municipal Chief Executive for Akuapem North, Barima Asiedu Larbi on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, during a fundraising and sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a chief’s palace by the Adawso Community.
According to the MCE, Adawso is a strategic community with brisk market activities the absence of a fire station in the community poses great danger therefore decided to establish one in the community using the Ghana Post facility to help protect lives and properties in case of any unfortunate circumstance.
Additionally, the MCE said, the Adawso town roads will be rehabilitated whilst the Assembly steps up effort to complete the warehouse facility under construction in the market for the traders.
He also said the assembly will also light up the market in the coming weeks to enable traders to sell during the evening.
The Chief of Akuapem Adawso, Nana Sakyi Amoako expressed his disappointment in politicians for failing to honor their promises.
He said the community is retarding in development despite efforts by individual members contributing financially to sustain the development of the community.
Meanwhile, Sammy Awuku, CEO of the National Lottery Authority, NLA, donated GHc50,000, while the MP for Akuapem North Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah donated GHc30,000. The Akuapem North Municipal Assembly also donated GHc 20,000 for the construction of the chief’s palace at Adawso.
