29 hardworking farmers have been honoured by the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly as part of the 39th farmers day celebration held at Asokore.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Comfort Asante retreated government’s commitment to the development of the agric sector since assuming governance in 2017.
She mentioned planting for food and jobs, planting for export and many other initiatives meant to ensure the state of Ghana’s agric sector is improved to benefit the country at large.
Madam Comfort Asante praised farmers for their role in providing food for the people and urged them to do more to be able to make sure the country has enough to eat and even export to other countries.
The Member of Parliament, Nana Adjei Boateng on his part was worried about insufficient land available for farming activities due to the massive development that has transpired over the past decade.
He, however, called on farmers to heed to directions from Agric Extension Officers and adopt modern technologies to maximize yield.
“New Juaben used to have vast land for farming activities when I was the MCE but the situation is different nowadays as we have seen massive developmental projects over the past years” the MP emphasised.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Agric Director, Amenu assured farmers of his outfit continuous support to see to it that agriculture is improved within the municipality.
He also appreciated the hardwork of agric extension officers for their dedication and support to ensuring farmers get the needed knowledge in what they do.
