The New Juaben Traditional Council celebrated first Akwasidae in the year on Sunday February 5, 2023.
Akwasidae festival is a magnificent Ashanti celebration centered on ancestral reverence, remembrance and acknowledgement of past kings and noble feats. It serves as a celebration of the Golden Stool and a cultural vibrancy that brings together the Asantehene, sub-kings and subjects.
Speaking at the ceremony held in Yiadom Hwedie palace, Omanahene of New Juaben traditional area Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III thanked all sub-chiefs for uniting and supporting him. He said this unity must be sustained to spur up development in New Juaben.
Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III stated that, in order to sustain unity and bring the people onboard to buy into the vision of the traditional council, the celebration of Akwasidae festival in new Juaben will be rotated in all traditional communities in New Juaben starting from the next Akwasidae for the subjects to get involve.
Addressing other matters, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III cautioned families breaching directives by the traditional council that corpse should be collected and convey from mortuary for burial only after 6:00pm on Fridays.
