Some concerned delegates and party faithfuls of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Akwatia constituency of Eastern region have expressed their displeasure and bitterness in the party executives for trying to use all possible means to impose the incumbent member of parliament, Hon. Henry Boakye Yiadom popularly called “Okoyo” who represents the Akwatia constituency on the ticket of NDC on them to go unopposed whilst there are other candidates hopping to contest him.
Speaking at a press conference organised by some Akwatia NDC delegates and party faithfuls at Akwatia in the Denkyembour district, they explained that they are much worried and displeased with the “mafia tactics” their constituency party executives led by their party chairman; B.B Moro are trying to use to pave way for their member of parliament to go unopposed of which they will vote “skirt and blouse” should such thing happens.
They are, therefore, calling on both regional and national NDC party executives led by Chairman Asiedu Nketiah to as a matter of urgency stop their constituency party executives from their unlawful activities which would lead to the lost of the member of parliament seat to their opponent NPP because they will surely campaign against the party for people to vote “skirt and blouse”.
Akwatia NDC is among the few constituencies in the Eastern region whose constituency parliamentary candidate selection hasn’t been done due to misunderstanding of one candidate going unopposed and directives from the party’s national executives.
The Akwatia NDC executives responding to the accusations by the concerned party delegates and party faithfuls says they will come out with their official response should the need arise but for now, they would not speak on the matter.
