Kwabeng, Eastern Region – A group of concerned youth in Akyem Kwabeng have pledged their full support for Daasebre Ayimadu Kantamanto II, whom they recognize as the chief of Kwabeng and Okyeman Gyeasehene, despite growing
controversy over his legitimacy.
At a press briefing held ahead of a grand durbar scheduled from October 15 to 18, Nana Osei Tutu Junior, a leading voice among the youth, emphasized that Kwabeng, as the capital of the Atiwa West District and a significant seat within Okyeman, will not be allowed to fall into disunity or neglect.
“We, the youth of Kwabeng, will not sit down and watch our city be destroyed,” he declared. “Thanks to Daasebre Ayimadu Kantamanto II, many young people in this community have found work and are now able to support their homes and families. That is why we are rallying behind him.”
According to the group, preparations for the durbar — which includes cultural activities and an artist night — are already underway. The Zongo community, local residents, and concerned youth have joined efforts to make the event a success, with two artists expected to perform during the celebration.
“This is an advance float to create awareness,” Osei Tutu said. “When you come to Kwabeng next week, you will see the durbar happening in full force. The town is peaceful, and development is ongoing.”
Meanwhile, two persons have been arrested for plotting to assassinate the chief and one other woman, who is expected to be made the queen mother.
