The Koforidua Effiduase Area Head of the Church of Pentecost Apostle Daniel Yeboah Nsaful has asserted that the explosive incident which has devastated Appiatse Community near Bogoso in the Western region is another evidence of system failure.
According to Apostle Nsaful, the incident could have been prevented should all safety measures prescribed strictly adhered to.
Fourteen (14) people were killed and 179 others injured in the explosion, which occurred on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Appiatse Community a farming community between Bogoso and Bawdie in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality in the Western Region.
Preliminary investigations by the Police indicated that the mining explosive vehicle was moving from Tarkwa to the Chirano Gold Mines.
The Minerals Commission on Saturday shut down Maxam Ghana Limited, owners of the explosive truck to pave way for investigations into the accident. Meanwhile, the Chief Inspector of Mines has been interdicted.
Apostle Daniel Nsaful said institutional failures are inimical to the development of the country since it leads to lawlessness and stunted economic growth.
“It should tell us that systems must work and I also know that in carrying those explosives or dangerous materials there must be police escorts and some safety measures, if they were not applied then we should sit down, go back to the drawing board”. Apostle Nsaful said.
He continued “In our time there are a lot of indiscipline, systems are not working, laws are not working, people don’t mind, everybody wants to do what it pleases him and if these things continue to go then I am afraid if all institutions break down there will be Chaos and lawlessness in our system which will not auger well for the development and growth of our economy. So I want to plead with the government to sit up and let institutions work”.
Apostle Daniel Yeboah Nsaful said this on Sunday when speaking to the media at the sidelines of retirement service for 16 officers of the Church in Akyem Old Tafo in the Eastern Region
He bemoaned that commitment and sacrifices to the work of God are drastically reducing due to economic, technological, and post-modernism philosophies.
He however urged Christians to rekindle the spirit of Commitment to the work of God to fully tap the blessings therein.
The host of the retirement service Pastor Prince Odoom, Old Tafo District pastor of the Church of Pentecost eulogized the retiree who served between 15 to 30 years as Elders, deacons, and Deaconess for their immense contribution to the growth of the Church in the district.
