A Guest House at Akyem Asuom in the Kwaebibirim District in the Eastern Region has been attacked by an armed robber.
The armed robber reportedly wielding an AK47 attacked the guest house at about 8:30pm to rob.
The masked robber managed to get Ghc3000 from the manager of the guest.
“I was here when I saw someone wearing a mask entering with AK47 and demanded money from me. He first enters a room where we had a guest so I was afraid he will shoot the person. so I gave all that we had being our two weeks sales to him. He attempted to shoot by the gun failed. He left and returns for about a minute to demand more money but I told him I don’t have anything on me. I can’t tell if they were a group that some were standing outside or not because he asked as to lie down”. The manager of the facility narrated.
Police arrived at the scene to comb the area but could not find the Suspect.
Armed robbers continue to terrorize residents in Akyem Asuom and its environs.
On Thursday, August 5, 2021, at about 3:10am armed robbers attacked a food vendor opposite the Asuom Clinic shot one person.
Police upon receipt of the information rushed to the scene with the District Officer in charge of 4 men and the service driver to the scene.
The Police team met one Gladys Senagbe the food vendor who showed the body of a deceased person lying in a pool of blood with a gunshot on the head.
The said Gladys Senagbe identified the deceased as one Amos Dadebor alias Congo aged about 80 years.
Gladys Senagbe told Police that on the same day at about 2:50am, she heard her dogs barking and the deceased who was lying outside on a mattress in the corridor ordered the person to stop but the robber shot at him killing him instantly.
That the robber then shot at her door four times, opened the door, and robbed her of all her money.
Police combed the place and were able to retrieve four spent shells of AK 47.
Gladys told Police that the robber was the only person with a face mask and spoke pidgin and Ewe Language.
The body has been deposited at the Kade Government Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
Meanwhile, the Asuom Youth Association has called on the Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akufo Dampare to equip the local Police to enable them to fight crime in the area.
The call by the youth follows the latest killing of a man on Thursday dawn in the community by armed robbers.
Jones Fobi, Vice President of Asuom Youth Association says there is insecurity in the community due to the fight against illegal mining.
