A victim of last Tuesday’s highway robbery attack on Akyem Anyinasin to old Tafo Akyem road in the Eastern Region has alleged that one of the armed robbers inserted his hands into the pant of a female victim to take the money she hid.
According to Elder Kingsley Korankye, the money was a Church offering that the woman was protecting.
The incident occurred Tuesday around 9:00pm
Fourteen of the victims including women from three local assemblies of the Church of Pentecost -Atwemamena, Aboabo, and Anyinasin were onboard a vehicle driven by a Church Elder -Enock Ofori returning from the Church’s district officers program at Old Tafo Akyem heading towards Akyem Anyinasin Community.
One of the victims, George Asare narrated that, the highway robbers numbering four(4) wielding guns and knives blocked the road and at gunpoint ordered their vehicle to stop which the driver complied.
He said the robbers forced them to lie face down and at gunpoint took away their mobile phones and monies.
The armed robbers have been terrorizing commuters on the Akyem Anyinasin to Tafo, Tafo to Akyem Maase, and Asafo roads for many years now. The bad nature of the roads has been cited as an aiding factor.
