Asokore zongo youth in the New Juaben north municipality of the Eastern region have been advised to desist from any act of violence but rather have confidence in their leaders.
The Zongo Chief, Sariki Alhaji Omar Farouk Bello made the appeal in a press conference held on Thursday.
His comments after information that a new Chief has been stalled in his absence.
But speaking to the media, Sariki Alhaji Omar Farouk Bello emphasised that he is the legitimate recognised Chief in the community and that, no one can claim ownership of the title.
“I was installed as a chief in 2018 and I continue to remain the leader of my people. I hope what I heard was just a mere talk because we have only one Chief and that is me” the Zongo Chief emphasised.
He narrated “the faction in question denied the issue when the Municipal Commander queried them but there was the news they went ahead and installed the Chief at the Mosque. I have just returned from my journey so, in due time, I and my leaders will summon those alleged in the issue to come and explain their side of the story”.
Sariki Alhaji Omar Farouk Bello assured the angry youth gathered to have patience as his outfit will deal with the matter and subsequently sanction anyone who would be found culpable.
Some youth who were at the event to support the Chief also assured him of their unflinching support as they see him as the legitimate known leader.
