Hon. Daniel Asiamah, the Assembly Member for Aburi West Electoral Area, on October 4,2023 undertook a commendable initiative by distributing essential learning materials to pupils in the area’s Basic Schools.
The generous donation included customized exercise books, pens, and pencils, and it was made possible through the support of the Vinyo Prestige Foundation, a non-profit organization.
This act of distributing learning materials is part of an annual educational support program designed to alleviate the financial burden on parents in the community.
Several schools benefited from this initiative, including Kemp Methodist Junior High School, St. Luke Anglican Basic School, and PWCE Demonstration Basic School.
The students who received these learning materials were filled with joy, as it eased their access to necessary tools for their education.
Miss Vera Yawa Dzomeku, the Headmistress of Kemp Methodist Basic School, emphasized the challenges faced by students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, who struggle to afford even the most basic learning materials. Some students even arrive at school on empty stomachs due to financial constraints.
Miss Dzomeku praised the Assembly Member for his timely intervention and support.
Mavis Larbi from the Vinyo Prestige Foundation emphasized the importance of education and the organization’s commitment to this cause.
She highlighted the rising costs of exercise books and learning materials, which often pose a significant challenge for low-income families. The partnership with the Assembly Member helps address this issue directly.
Hon. Daniel Asiamah shared that over a thousand books and learning materials have already been distributed, and this initiative is just one part of his comprehensive approach to improving the quality of education in the area.
He mentioned other initiatives, such as extra classes for final year students to enhance their performance in the BECE examination and various mentorship programs and minor infrastructural interventions aimed at supporting education.
These efforts collectively demonstrate Hon. Daniel Asiamah’s dedication to enhancing education and creating opportunities for students in the Aburi West Electoral Area.
