Teachers at St. Christopher Roman Catholic Primary school in Atimpoku in the Asuogyaman District in the Eastern region have boycotted teaching and shut down the school over the shit bombing.
Teachers and Pupils bumped into a shit bombing incident in the school Monday, June 7, 2021.
As a result, the Management of the school decided to close down the school indefinitely till the Community addresses the chronic despicable act by unscrupulous persons in the community.
According to the teachers, the incident of defecating in classrooms in the school has existed for a long period but has not been properly addressed by the Community hence their decision to close down the school until serious attention is paid to their plight.
“We are not going back until we see them do something to address the issue. We can’t be cleaning and smelling feces almost every week. It is so disrespectful to us. So until the Community fixes the problem we aren’t going to work”.
At a crunch meeting, the community and the Parents Teachers Association agreed to the closure of the school for a week to enable the Community to find a lasting solution to the problem.
The chairman of the parent’s Teachers Association, PTA, Gideon Claude, said a proposal has been made for levying parents to hire night watchmen for the school.
Meanwhile, the traditional council will meet the entire community on Sunday to deliberate on the matter.
