A 52-year-old man has been crushed to death by a speeding Toyota Hiace Mini Bus at Onokwa near Nkawkaw stretch of the Accra to Kumasi Highways in the Eastern Region.
Information gathered indicates that the suspect driver Ebenezer Amoah, 41, was in charge of the Toyota Hiace minibus with registration Number GS 5980 -19 from Accra towards Kumasi with fourteen passengers on board.
However on reaching a section of the road at Onokwa near Nkawkaw, the victim now deceased identified as Kwadwo Asiedu, 52, suddenly emerged onto the road from the nearside edge when facing Kumasi direction and was knocked down dead on the spot.
In an attempt to save the situation, the vehicle somersaulted and landed into a ditch at the offside edge of the road.
Some of the passengers on board the vehicle including the suspect driver sustained injuries and were rushed to Holy Family Hospital, Nkawkaw for medical treatment.
According to the acting Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Sargeant Francis Gomado, the local Police upon receipt of information rushed to the scene and extended its investigations to the hospital where the following victims: Nana Apenteng age 43, Francis Adu Gyan age 37, Akua Serwaa age 58, Janet Barfo age 42, Vera Adobea age 35, Gifty Boafo age 29 and suspect driver Ebenezer Amoah were met receiving treatment.
He said the body of the deceased was inspected and deposited at the same Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
