A cable thief has been arrested at Akyem Tafo in the Eastern region.
The suspect was caught red-handed in an uncompleted building near Golf City around Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana stealing the cables.
The thief broke into the building and removed the section of the POP ceiling to gain access to the wire cables laid.
But luck eluded him when a passerby noticed him while coming out hence raising alarm for his arrest by the public.
The suspect admitted the offense and was handed over to CRIG security who also handed him over to the Police.
The suspect is being prepared to be put before a court.
Cable theft is on the rise in the Eastern region.
Thieves mostly electricians have been invading uncompleted buildings to steal cables worth thousands of cedis.
