The Chief Executive (CE) of Forestry Commission (FC), Mr. John Allotey, has paid working visit to staff of the commission at various checkpoints on Accra to Kumasi Highways.
The Chief Executive was accompanied by two of his deputies; Hon. Martha Kwayie Manu, who is in charge of the Timber Industry Development Division (TIDD); and Mr. Nyadia Sulemana Nelson, in charge of the Forest Services Division (FSD).
Also present on this trip were the Executive Directors of TIDD and FSD, Dr. Nurudeen Iddrisu and Mr. Hugh Brown respectively, the Corporate Affairs & Media Relations Manager, Mrs. Joyce Ofori Kwafo; the Coordinator of the National Timber Monitoring Team, Mr. Alexander Asum and other management staff of TIDD and FSD
The Chief Executive and his team visited the Nsabaa, Bunso and Nsawam Check Points and made a brief stop at the Forestry Commission’s Fumigation Site, Bunso.
At each of the meeting with staff, he expressed the Board and Management’s appreciation to them for their hard work and encouraged them to work harder in this and the next years of their stay in the Commission.
Mr. Allotey cautioned staff to desist from acts that bring about division in the Commission and work cordially with each other on all levels to achieve the goals of the Commission together.
He also advised staff to take good care of themselves medically and take opportunities available to improve on themselves academically in order to fill vacant positions whenever the need arises.
Citing the examples of ladies in management positions, he encouraged the ladies to emulate and aspire to higher heights in the Commission.
Mr. Allotey mentioned that staff at the Check Points should also take it upon themselves to interact, educate and sensitise the industry players on the right acts of the trade as that will reduce the illegalities.
He asked staff to concentrate more on protecting the forests rather than making arrests.
