George Edzordzi aka Black Jesus, 38, and Yakubu Nuhu Baturi, 47, have been found guilty of robbery and causing harm by the Koforidua Circuit ‘B’ court.
The two were said to have attacked and robbed Mr Kofi Nartey, an amount of GHC4,500.00 and a mobile phone from a teacher, and Assemblymember for” Owurahigh” near Klo Agogo in Yilo Krobo.
Back in January 2019, Mr Kofi Nartey was robbed at gunpoint and machetes resulting in his one hand being cut off at Klo Agogo in the Eastern Region.
The Assistant State Attorney, the Lawyer presenting facts of the case in court said on January 29th, 2019, the two suspected robbers went to the victim’s house with cutlasses and guns.
He said the suspects after breaking into the home ordered the victim to bring his money and mobile phones while pointing a pistol at him.
He said two of the suspects were subsequently arrested on January 29th, 2019 on the same day in their hideout in Klo Agogo.
One of the suspects he added admitted during the interrogation and mentioned George Edzordzi Dabla, aka Black Jesus, as their gang leader.
He said, Yakubu Nuhu Baturi stated in his caution statement that he only assisted in the planning of the act but did not participate in the actual robbery but both pleaded not guilty to the offence when arraigned before court.
They were later found guilty by the court and Ms Mercy Addei Kotei pronounced that the two serve a term of 30-years each in prison with hard labour.
