Farmers, road users, and students of Mangoase in the Akwapim North municipality of the Eastern region and its surrounding communities are still struggling with the deplorable state of their roads.
The deplorable nature of the Adawso-Mangoase road has made it difficult for farmers to send their farm produce to market centers to sell after harvesting.
Mangoase, Aboabo NO.1&2, Tieko, Gbolu Kofi, and Adawso are the food basket communities in Akwapim North Municipality but surprisingly, roads connecting these communities are now a death trap.
The movement of heavy-duty vehicles carting sand in the area continues to worsen the condition of the main road from Mangoase to Adawso as erosion washes away portions of the road, making it difficult for drivers to ply the road.
“We are pleading to the authorities to turn their focus on the Mangoase-Tinkong- Adawso road for smooth flow of vehicles at all times” some residents complained.
Also, teachers and students of Mangoase SHS complain the state of the road has negatively affected teaching and learning as most of them staying outside the community find it difficult to report to school on time.
They are, therefore, appealing to a matter of urgency for authorities to deal with the issue to avert the economic challenges it would have on their activities as well as the academic performance of students.
