Dr. Mark Boadu, Chairman of the Eastern Regional Peace Council, has inaugurated and trained district peace desk officers at the Koforidua All Nations University.
The training aimed to equip peace desk officers with the necessary skills to coordinate peace activities at the district level, particularly during elections.
Speaking to Bryt fm reporter, Dr. Boadu emphasized that “this is the first time the regional peace council has initiated such training, despite the National Peace Council Act 818 mandating the appointment of district officers for peace activities”.
He attributed the delay to logistical challenges but expressed gratitude to stakeholders who supported the initiative.
Nine out of 23 districts participated in the training, with plans for the remaining districts to join soon.
Dr. Boadu urged all Ghanaians to promote peace before, during and after the elections, emphasizing that peace is the key to national development.
Meanwhile, participants were presented with certificates for being part of the training.
