A driver’s mate from Akyem Tafo in the Eastern Region has died in a fatal accident on Akyem Osiem to Begoro road.
The deceased popularly known as Pogasty was fast asleep on bags of cocoa load at the bucket of a Rhino truck carting the commodity.
The truck failed to break as a result, the driver lost control of the steering wheel as the vehicle veered off the road.
The mate who was still asleep fell off the truck and crashed his head on the road before the truck crashed.
The driver’s mate sustained a serious head injury.
He was rushed to Osiem Hawa hospital and was transferred to Koforidua Regional Hospital.
Pogasty was subsequently transferred to Korle Bu teaching hospital but died while on admission.
Meanwhile, the driver of the truck has been treated and discharged
