A 28-year-old man identified only as Olu has drowned in a well at Akyem Twapease near Asuom in the Kwaebibirim District in Eastern region.
The deceased,an epileptic, drowned Thursday June 1,2023 after returning home with her mother from farm.
He reportedly suffered the epileptic seizure while in the farm.It is however not established if he suffered seizure when fetching the water hence his drowning.
His body was retrieved from the well on Friday June 2 after several efforts by personnel from Ghana Police Service and Ghana National Fire Service to retrieve the body failed previous night.
A farmer in the neighborhood with experience in fishing from Volta Region used indigenous skills with metal hook to retrieve the body.
The deceased was said to be very brilliant but for the epilepsy,he could have not further his education and decided to farm to support the mother.
In a related development, body of a man yet to be identified has been retrieved from Densu River in Nsawam in the Eastern region after drowning while driving.
The deceased is reported to have crashed the car and submerged in the river at night while driving on the Accra to Kumasi highway.
The incident was noticed days later by some passerbys prompting joint operation by Police ,Ghana National Fire Service and NADMO with support from residents to retrieve the body and the car from the river.
The decomposing body has since been deposited at the morgue pending autopsy and identification
