A 39-year-old farmer at Akyem Abomosu in the Atiwa East District of the Eastern Region has been slapped with 20 years’ imprisonment for defiling and impregnating his 15-year-old daughter.
The convict, James Tetteh was jailed by Koforidua Circuit Court ‘B’ presided over by Her Honour Mercy Addei Kotei on Friday, April 24, 2020.
According to the Prosecutor Chief Inspector Owusu Ababio, the convicted father lived with the victim at Akyem Abomosu but since the beginning of this year, the father has been sexually abusing his daughter.
Someone who stays with them in the same house carefully observed that the girl was being sexually abused hence started to interrogate the victim who confided in him and narrated her ordeal.
He then reported the matter to Akyem Abomosu Police who proceeded quickly to arrest the convict -James Tetteh.
Endorsed medical examination report revealed the victim has been sexually abused and is 16 days pregnant.
The convict admitted the offense in his investigation statement and was charged with defilement and incest.
The convict pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment in hard labor on each count to be run concurrently.
