Teaching and learning have been interrupted at Yaw -Kwasi D/A Basic School in Upper West Akyem Municipality in Eastern Region after a fire consumed a few teaching and learning materials at the school’s office.
Items destroyed include textbooks, exercise books, pencils and chalks, registers, shelves among others.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
“At about 7:00 pm we got information that there was a fire outbreak in the school. We were shocked because there is no electricity in the school, nobody cooks there. Out children are in the house because all their books have been burnt” opinion Leader at Yaw Kwasi community.
Management of the school is appealing to the government for urgent intervention.
