A Kia “loading boy “at Klo Agogo in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern region has been seriously injured in a rainstorm disaster that occurred in the community.
A flying roof struck the ankle of the loading boy who was loading various items into the Kia Truck.
He sustained a serious wound and was rushed to Klo Agogo Clinic where he is receiving treatment.
According to Assembly Member, Harold Kuma, the rainstorm occurred on a market day where over 2000 traders and farmers were trading their produce on the Klo Agogo market.
He said the rainstorm ripped off the market sheds and carried away the roofs to far places causing complete pandemonium as the thousands of traders in the market ran helter-skelter to safeguard their lives.
Three other persons sustained injuries.
Meanwhile, the rainstorm reportedly ripped off about 40 houses in the community as well as part of the Klo Agogo Senior High School.
A storage warehouse facility for Agricultural produce was also ripped off.
According to the Assembly Member, officials of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) have visited the Community on Saturday for assessment.
