The Eastern Regional Youth Desk of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) have organized a soccer tournament to mark International Youth Day.
Football matches held at two venues—Koforidua Secondary Technical School and the Youth Resource Center saw participation from 16 district branches of GNAT.
Teachers showcased their soccer skills with impressive dribbling and goal-scoring abilities.
The theme of this year’s International Youth Day was ‘From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.’ Points to Youngsters as frontrunners of digital adoption and technology.
GNAT wants government to enhance digital capacity of Teachers across the country.
Peter Danquah Kpakpo-Atsem, Eastern Regional Secretary of GNAT, noted that the tournament celebrated the youth within the Association.
Daniel Affadu, Deputy General Secretary for Administration and Labour Relations, encouraged teachers to enhance their IT and AI skills, called for better-equipped ICT labs, and emphasized ongoing teacher training.
He also urged teachers to maintain peace and avoid deviant behavior, especially with the upcoming December 7 elections.
